Item Description

For those who know, coffee is more than just a beverage: it’s a real passion. If you or somebody you know fully appreciates that perfect cup, then buying a coffee brewer this Christmas could be the perfect gift of choice. The following is an overview of the most popular coffee makers for Christmas 2010.

1) Cuisinart DCC-1200 12-Cup Brew Central Coffeemaker

This retro-styled, stainless steel coffee brewer is capable of 12 cups of coffee, featuring a programmable timer to brew coffee in the morning, a permanent Gold Tone filter that eliminates the need for paper filters, and a three year warranty. This Cuisinart coffeemaker is very popular.

2) Black & Decker DCM18S Brew ‘n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel Mug

For those who enjoy a good cup of coffee but find themselves on a budget, this is the perfect choice. It’s a personal coffee brewer and brews directly into the included 15-ounce travel mug. It also features a permanent filter, and includes an auto shut-off function. It is a great choice for those who just need the ability to grab a single cup of coffee when they need it.

3) Cuisinart DCC-1150 Coffee Maker

Featuring a built in timer, this 10 cup coffee maker will ensure your coffee is ready for you when you wake up each morning. For those desiring a 1 to 4 cup setting if only wanting a smaller amount of coffee, an auto shut off function is provided.  It also includes a charcoal water filter and gold tone filter. The thermal carafe guarantees that the coffee stays hot after the machine has turned off.

4) DeLonghi BAR32 Retro Pump-Driven 35 Ounce Espresso Maker

Featuring a retro design, this coffee maker will brew 35 ounces of coffee at a time. It comes with a single and double espresso filter, and can either make ground espresso or use pods.  Both easy to operate, and at an affordable price, this could be a great gift choice.

5) Black & Decker DCM2500B SmartBrew Coffeemaker

Here is another very affordable coffee maker that can brew up to 12 cups of coffee at a time. It features the ability to wake up to fresh coffee by means of a timer, a stay-hot plate that keeps things hot for two hours, automatic shut off, and the “Sneak-A-Cup” feature that allows you to have a cup before the whole pot is brewed.

Which Coffee Brewer Should You Choose?

It goes without saying, it’s important to consider the recipient carefully when choosing just the right coffee brewer. For example, they may have limited space or need a brewer they can take with them when traveling, in which case a single cup brewer could be the best option. Other factors to consider include the filter type, whether it comes with an attached grinder, whether a timer is included and so on.  Once you have an idea what type or style coffee maker your recipient would appreciate, the rest is, as they say, history!

I PURCHASED THIS CUISINART 12 CUP COFFEEMAKER OVER A MONTH AGO AND I AM SO PLEASED WITH IT, IT COMPLIMENTS MY OTHER APPLIANCES VERY NICELY.

I have owned two of these in a row. Great coffeemaker, but both have nearly caused electrical fires in my home. Plugged in, but turned off, the machine begins to fry internally. The hotplate gets extremely hot – old coffee in pot begins to boil! Electrical burning smell & smoke. After the first one I wrote it off and bought another. Today the same exact thing happened. Both failures happened within 4 months after Cuisinart’s 3 year warranty policy expired, so no offer of replacement. I hate to say “something seems fishy” but this certainly borders on intentional and is an obvious design catastrophe that I’m sure Cuisinart is aware of. Thank goodness I was home for both instances, I’m confident that a serious fire would have occurred had I not been there. Each failure occurred in a separate home, so this is not an electrical issue in my kitchen. (Unless both of my last two kitchens have had electrical problems). Cuisinart customer service was friendly, but not at all interested in my dissatisfaction or the fact that the machine has consistently failed in a dangerous and identical way. Once they realized I was out of warranty they rushed me off the phone.

My husband and I really wanted an amazing coffee maker. We had decided to purchase one for each other as a Christmas gift. I researched amazon reviews and then went further to other consumer review sites – and this coffee maker kept coming up as great. We just received it yesterday and set it up. THE COFFEE tastes amazing. DO NOT purchase the gold filter because it comes with one. Amazon had it set up in the buy 3 thing and we bought it.

    LOVE IT!

This seemed like a nice machine when I bought it 23 months ago. Unfortunately it started to die a few months ago. It started not heating coffee properly, then it finally stopped brewing altogether about a week ago. This was surprising since my super-cheap Mr. Coffee machine lasted 15 years. I was disappointed that the more expensive Cuisinart model didn’t even last two years.

I am completely happy with this coffeemaker. I think it is very stylish and makes excellent coffee. The carafe is perfectly designed and doesn’t drip at all. As well, the opening is wide enough that I have no problem putting my hand in the carafe to wash it. My previous Mr. Coffee carafe was very annoying to try to clean. Some reviews said that it was difficult to fill the resevoir, but I have had no problems whatsoever because I make sure that the lid is fully open and I pour from the side. Some people have complained about the five beeps when the coffee has finished brewing too, but I don’t find the beeps to be disturbingly loud and I actually find them helpful. I can concentrate on what I’m reading in the paper in the morning instead of thinking about whether the coffee is done or not. In general, the design is excellent for both appearance and functionality. A great coffeemaker.
